First and foremost, don't go to the store. Our store level employees can't interact with a member's rewards or BestBuy.com accounts outside of placing an order or attaching a purchase for points. By design, to protect our members, BestBuy.com accounts with 2-step enabled can't be accessed without the security code or backup codes. If you don't have the backup codes from when you initially setup your accounts with 2-step, then we're basically left with one option, and that is to create a new BestBuy.com account using an alternative email address.

No matter which display we hooked the Accele RVCLPMBS up to, it provided the best image across the most lighting conditions, with good color reproduction and enough contrast and dynamic range for us to see the detail of objects behind us. It installs quickly to the top of any standard US-size license plate without blocking registration tags in the corners, and you can tilt the center-mounted camera without much effort, so dialing in just the right view is easy. Since the Accele camera needs to be wired directly to a display, you can have a pro set it up for about $150, or you can install the system yourself (we did it in an afternoon).

Camera field of view: In our testing, we found that the best cameras offer a field of view between 160 and 170 degrees. The wider a field of view, the farther you can see left and right directly behind the bumper, but beyond about 170 degrees, the image begins distorting into a fish-eye shape that makes it harder to recognize objects at a glance.

We started by researching nearly 40 of the top-selling and best-reviewed add-on backup cameras at a variety of retailers. Based on their specs, prices, and owner reviews, we then set up the top eight cameras for a hands-on, head-to-head comparison. Similarly, looking for a complete system we could recommend, we researched almost 40 displays that could work with the cameras, and we tested seven of the most promising ones.

We recommend the Accele RVCLPMBS as the best backup camera for most people because it delivers the best performance for an affordable price. It provides a clear image, day and night, with reasonable color accuracy and enough dynamic range and resolution to let you recognize any objects in view. The Accele mounts along the top of any standard US license plate without obscuring registration stickers, and the tiltable lens allows you to get just the right angle for your car.

Though none of the inexpensive displays we tested blew us away, the Esky ES-15 4.3-inch on-dash display had the best overall image quality, and it avoided common dealbreakers. In our testing, it showed a clear image both during the day and at night, with a good balance of contrast, color saturation, and a comfortably wide viewing angle. Its simple stand is easy to adjust to get the perfect angle, which is especially important if you share a car with other drivers.

Chuanganzhuo Backup Camera and Monitor Kit: At less than $30 including a display at the time of our research, this offering was the least expensive backup-camera system we tested. The image seemed slightly zoomed compared with the image from every other camera, and this model was the only camera to have a significantly narrower field of view than standard. That combination made for an awkward and less useful viewport, even before we considered the subpar image quality. The display was equally unimpressive, with low resolution, poor color saturation, and inaccurate color reproduction.

The length of time connected devices can run on the UPS during an extended electrical outage depends on the UPS battery capacity and the power draw of the devices. Generally speaking, they are not meant to be long-term power supplies, but give you time to shut devices down properly to avoid damage. Some units include software to automatically shut down a connected PC when the backup battery runs low. A UPS surge protector also prevents damage to connected devices by spikes in voltage from the wall outlet.

A sophisticated UPS power supply may offer AVR, or automatic voltage regulation. This feature stabilizes incoming AC power so that it is always delivered at 120 volts, without requiring the backup battery to come online. This is useful for preventing a UPS from repeatedly switching between AC and battery power during frequent brownouts.

A standby UPS computer backup system uses a little power to keep its battery charged (and to power a display if equipped with one), otherwise there is really no additional power draw compared to plugging your PC directly into a wall outlet. If you are concerned about power usage by an uninterrupted power supply, look for models that are Energy Star rated.

After the drive is initialized, the setup application will install LaCie Backup Assistant/Genie Timeline Free, an absolutely solid backup system with continuous backup. It s very easy to use and definitely an improvement on Windows backup, although a lot of configuration options are annoyingly disabled in the free version you get with the drive. It will also install LaCie Desktop Manager.

First, though, you need to know which external hard drives are the best --and that's where we can help. We conduct in-depth research and scour the market for the best external hard drives for your home and office computer, so that you can save time and money.

For our pick, the Seagate Backup Plus wins the best external hard drive overall. The device is ultra portable for easy carry, and it offers a straightforward design that works with both Windows and Mac. The USB 3.0 drive gives easy access to your files, and you also have the ability to set up automatic backups, whether it is daily, weekly, monthly, or on-demand. As a bonus, with your purchase, you'll receive a two-month membership to the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan, plus a two-year warranty.

As the name suggests, the LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt is the best rugged external hard drive for its tough design -- but it's fast, too. The incorporated Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C offers lightning-fast speeds of up to 130MB/s, giving you high-speed file transfers. Of course, the best part about this external hard drive is its durability. The tough, rugged design is built for life on the road, so it can outlast normal wear and tear. This unit is drop-, dust-, and water-resistant, so you can maintain peace of mind during every adventure.

There is no shortage of capacities for the WD My Book Duo. Its storage ranges from 4TB all the way to 36TB, offering the largest capacity of all the best external hard drives. However, you have to pay for all that storage with a higher price tag. It uses USB connectivity and offers a hard disk form factor of 3.5 inches, which is larger than other models. As a desktop unit, we also recommend this unit for gaming. 041b061a72
